leaving to antwerp

i will travel to antwerp tonight when just the owls are awake and the rest of the city is sleeping.
i imagine if owls could talk they would have a very plesant voice. dont you think so?

i promised my antwerp friend mieke that on my next return to antwerp i will bring something beautiful from all my trips i do - like in the fairy tales - when the prince or the fathers go on journeys and promise there daughters or princesses they will return with the most beautiful thing they can find on there journey.
i found something small but nice mieke!

Today is the opening of the Shiseido exhibition but also the day that 3 of my friends in tokyo will show their collection at the Tokyo Fashion Week.
One of them is Yoshikazu Yamagata from the label Writtenafterwards
i shot his collection for some of the Shiseido images. His cloth this time is inspired by

"once upon a time, it was the first fashion show in our memories..
many gods are showing new clothes to many animals."

ralph bonilla

sometimes i long to work as a duo. to share ideas and thoughts and to create together. if i would live in LA i would ask ralph bonilla to become from time to time "Ralph&Daniel". ralph´s work is such a pleasure for my heart and eyes.
ralph and i, really like the monster of lochness- so we both could have a second working space in scotland near the lake - and then while working together we could peek out of the window on the lake, to see if we catch "Nessie" swimming by.

snow

today its snowing in my room. its laundry day for my sheets and blanket covers.
i really like to hang them all over my room and to hide more and more things until my whole room becomes a huge snow landscape.

apart from my friends in antwerp i really miss the small shop, "mieke willems" . a shop filled with lovely things which makes your heart happy when you are sad, and even happier when you are already happy.

its getting cold so my mood is a bit sentimental but my heart made a jump today when i got the e-mail that there webshop is online now.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

My father, who passed away when i was very young, had two favourite film directors one was Polanski and the other was Terry Gilliam.

So it makes me really proud to write now that Terry Gilliam asked me to have my work featured in his up coming movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". I haven´t seen the movie yet so i dont know how much, how long and how clear they will be visible.
i do know that they are suposed to be shown in a scene when Heath Ledger and Lily Cole will look at them.

but look ( at the screen shot) i am named already in the credit list of the movie. AMAZING!!!!

My friend Chrissie Abbott (www.chrissieabbott.co.uk) just finished the super nice design of the next Little Boots single "Earthquake". I shoot the images for the single and a few more which will be published over the next few month. I always really enjoy working with Victoria and the whole Boots team and this time we had super nice back up from set designer David White. Cant wait until the "GOTHIC -TALES FROM THE CRYPT- BOOTS" images are out.

last time in japan - i bought two wooden bento boxes (see the video). i want to bring them to all my photoshoots... so i can have my own cooked meals for lunch.

...maybe the small bento box can be for my assistant.

a few month ago i did a 40 page story with cole mohr for liebling magazine. but sadly liebling never hit the newstands. liebling was my favourite magazine from germany together with 032c.
